Report: Liverpool are in discussions to acquire the ‘best striker in the world’ for £400,000-a-week, and he is open to a transfer.
Liverpool has recently engaged in talks with Napoli forward Victor Osimhen regarding a possible summer transfer, as reported by journalist Graeme Bailey.
The Premier League champions are looking to secure a new starting striker for Arne Slot in the upcoming months and have identified Osimhen as a viable option.
Although Newcastle’s Alexander Isak remains their top target, pursuing Osimhen, who demands a salary of £400,000 per week, appears to be a more feasible option, especially since Napoli is willing to sell the 26-year-old, who has only one year remaining on his contract.
Osimhen, who has been lauded as ‘the best striker in the world’, recently turned down an offer from Saudi Pro League team Al-Hilal and continues to attract interest from Turkish club Galatasaray, where he was on loan this past season.
Osimhen Open to Premier League Transfer.
Following discussions with Liverpool.
According to Bailey, Osimhen is eager to join the Premier League this summer, and his representatives held talks with both Liverpool and Manchester United last month.
Chelsea, who showed interest in the Nigerian international last summer, have not advanced their pursuit after the signing of Liam Delap from Ipswich Town.
Napoli is keen to secure a substantial deal for the 25-year-old striker, who has a £63m release clause that Al-Hilal was prepared to meet.
However, as Osimhen reportedly prefers to stay in Europe, he is not currently contemplating a move to the Middle East at this point in the transfer window.
Liverpool has confirmed Jeremie Frimpong as their first signing of the summer and is keen to finalize two more swift deals, with Florian Wirtz and Milos Kerkez expected to join soon.
The Reds are likely to set a new British transfer record in their pursuit of Wirtz, w
ho is anticipated to cost around €150m (£127m).
