Liverpool internally discuss the possibility of signing ‘complete striker’ this summer

Liverpool have marked Victor Osimhen as a serious target this summer following high-level discussion at Anfield, according to GiveMeSport.

With Arne Slot looking to sign a new striker this summer in order to replace Darwin Nunez at the club who struggled to performed last season, Osimhen has been identified as a target this summer.

The Premier League champions have already secured the signing of Jeremie Frimpong and they are currently involved in discussions to sign Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen and Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth.

Arne Slot is looking to make more signings

The Reds are planning to add more new players to their squad in order to make a competitive team this summer that can challenge for all the top honours next season.

Having noticed weakness in his attack, Slot now wants to target a move for a new striker who can lead his team’s attack next season.

With striker recruitment now a top priority for the reigning Premier League champions, the Nigerian forward’s name emerged during a meeting that involved key decision‑makers at the club.

Osimhen has built a reputation as one of world football’s most complete strikers, combining speed, aerial prowess, and clinical finishing.

Earlier interest from Saudi clubs, including Al‑Hilal, focused on the 26‑year‑old striker, but Osimhen reportedly declined those offers, signaling a preference to stay in Europe or pursue Premier League ambitions.

That decision positions Liverpool well if they choose to pursue a deal.

Liverpool face competition from Man United

Liverpool are not the only club linked with Osimhen. Manchester United have also reportedly entered the race, opening discussions with his representatives.

Elsewhere, Liverpool continue to explore other attacking reinforcements. Alexander Isak remains on their radar, though pursuit has stalled due to Newcastle’s inflated valuation.

The next few weeks may bring clarity. Will Liverpool back their discussions with a formal offer and match Osimhen’s wage demands? Or will they move to alternate targets if Napoli stands firm?

Former Napoli manager Luciano Spalletti described Osimhen as a ‘complete striker’.
