Liverpool are one step closer to shattering their record for an arrival after agreeing a deal with Bayer Leverkusen for Florian Wirtz. The Germany superstar, 22, will become the most expensive Bundesliga export with his move to Merseyside pending a medical ahead of the transfer window that reopens on June 16.
The Reds’ total spending will exceed £135million after Jeremie Frimpong made his move from Die Werkself at the beginning of June. Liverpool supporters will begin to track the flight paths for the record arrival, while the transfer business continues behind the scenes with Arne Slot‘s side facing an important window.
Liverpool will find out who their Premier League title defence will start against on Wednesday, June 18, but there remains work to do within the squad before they reconvene for pre-season.

Shock move emerges for Federico Chiesa
According to Calciomercato, Federico Chiesa is wanted by Besiktas – with the Turkish giants looking to land the Italy international as he faces an uncertain future.
With the World Cup next summer, the 27-year-old faces a decision over whether he will get the desired playing-time at Anfield in order to play his way into the squad – although Italy are facing the prospect of missing another campaign in the competition as they sit nine points of group leaders Norway, and three off Israel in second.
In an interview recently, Chiesa failed to close the door on an Anfield exit this summer with a Serie A return mooted. He said: “That’s something to think about during the summer.
“My family, my agent and I have a great relationship with Liverpool, the goal is to be ready for the pre-season.
Liverpool in pole position for Alexander Isak
Liverpool reportedly still view Newcastle United star Alexander Isak as their dream signing – and are pole position for his signature.
It remains to be seen how realistic a move for the Sweden international is this summer, with the Magpies digging their heels in with Champions League football secured.
Arsenal have previously been linked with his services and were said to have held a strong interest in him.
However, speaking with TBR Football, Graeme Bailey has claimed that the Reds have outlined Isak as their ‘dream’ signing and are leading the chase.
“Liverpool are keeping their power to dry, right?” He said.
“Liverpool still see him as their dream signing, and there’s a reason that Liverpool aren’t really going overboard in the striker one.
