Liverpool are preparing for their Carabao Cup final against Newcastle United – who were eliminated from the FA Cup on Sunday
Newcastle United star Bruno Guimaraes has fired a warning to Liverpool as the Magpies captain has shouldered responsibility following Anthony Gordon’s red card.
The boyhood Reds fan was sent off during their FA Cup exit to Brighton & Hove Albion and faces a ban for the Carabao Cup final, this month.
The two clubs lock horns at Wembley on March 16 as Arne Slot’s side look to defend their League Cup crown after picking up the silverware in Jurgen Klopp’s last success as Liverpool manager.
Newcastle are looking to pick up their first major honour since 1955 but faces concerns going into the showdown with Gordon set for a three-match ban following his altercation with Jan Paul van Hecke while Alexander Isak was withdrawn late on on Sunday.
Danny Welbeck’s extra-time winner dumped the Magpies out of the competition as Brighton stunned the St James’ Park crowd.
However, Guimaraes has requested unity as he described the upcoming showpiece against Liverpool as “one of the most important games for the club in recent years.”

“(I am) disappointed not to progress in the FA Cup as it was clearly one of our goals,” said the Brazilian.
“Moments like this are when we need to stick together the most.
“I know that, when eliminations like this happen, it’s hard to accept and we always look for someone to blame.
“If you need to find one, you can blame me.
“We have two weeks before one of the most important games for the club in recent years, and we must be ready for this great opportunity.
“My only request is that, in this moment, we stay united as one and go after the best for the club because we still have great things ahead.”
