Liverpool supporters have been left scratching their heads, unimpressed by Trent Alexander-Arnold’s latest social media post following the Reds’ Premier League title parade. Arne Slot steered the club to their 20th English league crown in his maiden voyage, but the 2024/25 campaign hasn’t been completely smooth sailing.
After both Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk put pen to paper on new deals, it was Alexander-Arnold – himself a boyhood Red – who dropped the real bombshell as he announced he would be leaving the club on a free transfer upon the expiry of his contract, with a move to Real Madrid expected to be announced in the coming days. The fallout had initially sparked a mixed bag of reactions – shock, disappointment, and acceptance in equal measure
But Jurgen Klopp’s rallying cry for fans to show the Scouser some love ahead of his final game at Anfield seemed to work its magic, helping him close out his Liverpool chapter on a high note. He received a rousing standing ovation after coming off the bench at halftime against Crystal Palace on Sunday afternoon, then played his part in lifting title number 20, before parading it through the streets of Liverpool the next day.
Trent’s Post Following Title Parade Raises Eyebrows
The Englishman has been called out for coming across egotistical

Despite the shift in sentiment from Liverpool fans following his emotional farewell, Trent Alexander-Arnold – widely regarded as the best right-back in world football – found himself back in the firing line after his post following Monday’s bank holiday title parade.
The event, attended by a record-breaking 1.5 million people, became the most attended parade in British history. But while the city turned red in celebration, some supporters felt Alexander-Arnold’s message made the moment a little too much about himself, sparking renewed frustration from parts of the Anfield faithful. On X, he wrote (see the full post below):
“Perfect send off. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, I love my city.”
His post is likely the final act of a glittering Liverpool career that spans 20 years, 354 appearances, and eight major honour – including two Premier League titles and a historic Champions League. But while the numbers speak for themselves, not everyone was pleased with the way he chose to word his final post.
“Wasn’t a send off for you,” one X user replied. “It was a celebration to celebrating winning our 20th league title.” A second comment read: “Never underestimate this guy’s ability to make it about himself,” while a third remarked:
“‘Perfect send off’ the parade was about the winning the league. ‘My city’ the city you’ve turned your back on because you’d rather play for Ego FC in Spain.”
“Got to say, that Klopp speech is really starting to wear off at this point,” a fourth said, while a fifth concluded: “The celebration wasn’t about you buddy or your ‘Summer of 66’. See ya!”
