Real Madrid have reached an agreement to sign 22-year-old Galician defender Alvaro Carreras, who previously featured in the club’s youth system. The deal with Benfica is in its final stages, with only the exchange of documentation remaining before the signing is made official.
According to Melchor Ruiz, once the paperwork is completed, all details of the transfer will be disclosed, as Benfica is a publicly traded company required to report the financial figures involved.
The club plans to announce Carreras first, with the player expected to sign a five or six-year contract. In the following days, Real Madrid also intend to confirm the signing of Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold, whose deal is at the same stage, with an agreement already reached pending formalities. Alexander-Arnold is expected to remain at the club until 2030.
Real Madrid aim to have both players available in time for the upcoming Club World Cup.
