Arsenal could be without as many as SIX of their most important players ahead of their Premier League clash with Manchester United.
In what will almost certainly be his biggest test since coming to the Premier League, Ruben Amorim will travel to the Emirates for an exciting match against Arsenal.
With Manchester City struggling to find form, Arsenal will hope that they can continue to put pressure on Arne Slot’s Liverpool with a win over United on Wednesday.
However, the Gunners could be without several key players as six members of the squad are doubts for the match.
Of the six players who could miss Wednesday’s match, Brazilian centre back Gabriel, who needed to be taken off during both of Arsenal’s previous two fixtures.
The defender was a crucial part of Saturday’s win over West Ham United, scoring the opener and winning the penalty that led to their fifth goal of the evening, but was forced off at half-time with an injury.
“It was related to the previous injury he had in Lisbon,” explained Mikel Arteta after the game.
“Obviously, he did great to be part of that but with that result and with the niggle that he’s feeling, we decided to take him off.”
Should the 26-year-old be unavailable for the game, it will add to Arteta’s injury woes in his defence, with Takehiro Tomiyasu and Ben White both certain to miss out with knee injuries.
Another potential absentee for the game is new signing Riccardo Calafiori who was replaced by Oleksandr Zinchenko in the 56th minute of Saturday’s match.
Speaking after the game, Arteta said: “He’s been dealing with little niggles in the last few weeks, obviously, he’s had a very serious knee injury and he’s doing really well.
“But, we have to manage his minutes. Today we have to do the same.”
Arsenal also have injury doubts in midfielders after both Mikel Merino and Thomas Partey missed the 5-2 win over West Ham.
“Unfortunately they both picked [up] an injury and the game came too early and they couldn’t be part of the squad,” Arteta said at the weekend.
