The Liverpool star has been linked with a move to Real Madrid when his contract expires this summer.

Liverpool fans have come up with a new shock theory about Trent Alexander-Arnold after spotting his latest social media post.

On Thursday, Liverpool fans welcomed the news that club captain Virgil van Dijk had finally penned a new deal with the Merseyside club, extending his stay until at least the summer of 2027.

The news came less than a week after star forward Mohamed Salah also signed a two-year extension to his deal, meaning all eyes have now turned to Alexander-Arnold, who will leave the club this summer should he not sign a new deal.

Reports throughout this season have suggested that the talented defender will leave his boyhood club to instead join Real Madrid, but Alexander-Arnold’s latest post on social media may have changed some fans minds.

The Englishman has remained tight-lipped regarding his future all season, leading to massive speculation as links to Real Madrid continued to heat up throughout Liverpool’s spectacular campaign under Arne Slot.

In recent weeks, Alexander-Arnold has spent time away from the pitch as he recovers from an ankle injury, but after it was confirmed he was nearing a return, he decided to post photos on his Instagram story showing him training with his teammates.

The 26-year-old posted pictures with Ibrahima Konate and Dominik Szoboszlai in the gym, as well as one of him on the training pitch, and it’s safe to say Liverpool fans are excited.

Reacting to the photos on X, one fan wrote: “Slyly convinced myself Trent has signed a deal with us yeno.”

Another agreed, adding: “I said this I’ll say it again. Trent Alexander Arnold stays!”

While one promised: “If Trent stays i’ll forgive him for everything ngl.”

Another, more cynical fan, added: “It’s the hope that kills you.”

It remains to be seen if Alexander-Arnold will play a part in Liverpool’s final matches this season, as they require just six points to secure their 20th English top flight trophy.

In his absence, Conor Bradley will almost certainly start in the right-back position, but Slot hasn’t ruled out Alexander-Arnold playing in red again this season.

Speaking ahead of Sunday’s match against Leicester City, the Liverpool boss said: “Trent is coming back from injury and trained with us this week, he has shown his commitment and he shows me what a player he is when he is on a pitch

“Trent is not ready to start but if things go well today and tomorrow, he might – might – be on the bench.”
