Last Monday, November 11, it took place in Lisbon the Gala das Quinas de Ouro 2024. An event that included the presence of great national athletesamong them the internationals summoned by Roberto Martínez for the next matches of the Portuguese National Team in the UEFA Nations League.
Through this event, the Portuguese Football Federation awarded several figures from the country’s sports world under the motto “I am Portugal”. Through this concept, the Federation launched a video in which parents and children were the main protagonists. It shows different game actions during a soccer match considered contrary to what fair play is. Among them, mention is made of the simulation of an injury, the loss of time, the provocative celebration of a goal and insults towards the players.
To conclude, Eder Lopesauthor of the goal with which the Portuguese National Team won the 2016 Euro Cup, sends a clear and forceful message. “If these attitudes are taught and accepted in football schools, they will be perpetuated for generations to come. Choose fair play and change the game“says the former soccer player, in favor of building a sport where sportsmanship reigns.
