Premier League supercomputer predicts contrasting fortunes for Liverpool and Man Utd after draw

Written by NBA WILLIAMSON

Liverpool are tipped to win the Premier League by more than 10 points as Manchester United, despite showing signs of improvement, will endure their worst top flight campaign for more than 30 years

Liverpool are still set to cruise to the Premier League title, according to a supercomputer, which has predicted a bottom-half finish for Manchester United.

The Reds had the chance to further extend their lead at the summit but were held by a spirited United performance as they left Anfield with a point on Sunday. Ruben Amorim has been forced to address the prospect of relegation, such has been the team’s decline.

That unthinkable reality is avoided, if the algorithms are to be trusted, but the Manchester outfit will still endure their worst ever Premier League season as they finish in the bottom half for the first time.

Liverpool meanwhile already have a healthy lead and have been tipped to eventually claim the title by 12 points from Arsenal. The Gunners were hoping their third time would be charm but instead they may have to accept second spot for the third year on the bounce.

Manchester City have been backed to utilise their powers of recovery and eventually finish third. A poor few months has seen them slide down the table and Pep Guardiola’s immediate priority will be ensuring they’re still a Champions League outfit next season. Chelsea also make a welcome return to Europe’s top table.

The battle for the European spots remains congested with a host of clubs putting their hands up. Those at JeffBet believe it will be Fulham who are best of the rest with a fifth-placed finish – their best ever in the top flight as Marco Silva continues to punch above his weight.

Aston Villa and Newcastle, who have both qualified for the Champions League in recent years, end up in sixth and seventh respectively. This year’s surprise package, Nottingham Forest, end up in a credible eighth.

At the other end of the table, two of the three promoted sides – Southampton and Leicester City – both make an immediate return to the Championship. Everton are the team predicted to join them with their last season at Goodison Park being a forgettable one.

The Toffees have been a Premier League ever present but a supercomputer believes they will only win two more games this season with Ipswich Town, against the odds, surviving despite only mustering 30 points.

This final table predicts the exact scores for the remaining games to compile how the Premier League will look come May. Probabilities for each match are derived from simulating each game 10,000 times which allows JeffBet to provide a percentage chance for each possible outcome of every match.
